High-tech exports basket in the first half year by 13 percent
Exports of computers, cell phones, networking and consumer electronics are first half of 2010 versus the same period last year by 13 percent to 13.4 billion euros rose. This was announced by the high-tech association Bitkom based on data from the Federal Statistical Office in Berlin.
"The hardware manufacturers in Germany are growing again," said Bitkom president August-Wilhelm Scheer. In the crisis year of 2009, exports of ICT products had fallen by 23 percent. "With the economic recovery in early 2010 then turned the trend. Hightech made in Germany is in demand internationally."
The strongest growth was achieved according to Bitkom exporters of communication technology with a gain of 22 percent to 4.5 billion euros in the first half. Manufacturer of IT hardware (computers, printers, accessories) increased their exports by 12 percent to 6.6 billion euros. Exports of consumer electronics grew by 1.4 percent to 2.3 billion euros.
"We expect that exports in the second half of the year to tie in the period before the crisis," said Scheer. This succeeds, even though the hardware market was dominated in virtually all segments of intense price competition.
Largest consumer of German ICT products is the United Kingdom with a volume of 1.2 billion euros in the first half of 2010 (up 4 percent), followed closely by France with 1.1 billion euros (+17 percent). Behind the Netherlands follow with an increase of 9 percent to EUR 928 million and Italy with an increase of 11 percent to 825 million euros. Thus, the EU remains the largest market for high-tech products from Germany.
Also recorded a strong increase in imports of high-tech products. In the first half of 2010, ICT goods worth EUR 20.7 billion were imported. This represents an increase of 17 percent over the same period last year. In 2009 the volume of imports was decreased by 18 percent to 38.6 billion euros.
By far the largest supplier of high tech is China. From there goods worth of 7.9 billion have been introduced, an increase of 35 percent, the biggest increase among the ten largest high-tech equivalent to importing countries. Second place went to the Netherlands with an import volume of 1.5 billion euros (plus 21 percent), followed by Korea at 1.3 billion euros (plus 7 percent). The United States ranks fourth gave surprising 9 percent less ICT goods to Germany. were from the United States in the first half only imported goods worth of 988 million euros.
